Roll of the Rim in Canada is my favourite time of year. First off, because it signifies spring, and second of all, you win shit from buying coffee. That cup of coffee right there won me a free large coffee. Maybe next time I'll get lucky and win a million bucks, eh?
Real Canadians roll up the rim by biting it and using their teeth only. My mom thinks its absolutely disgusting. So, ever time I makeout with my coffee cup I think of her :D
I was chatting online with a bunch of my friends the other night via webcam. I took a picture and I was all SMILE and my dork friend Zara puts on her cheesiest grin. I LOVE IT. BEST PICTURE EVER. We were laughing about it forever.
She is now telling me it was a fake smile but I don't care - cutest I have seen her look ever.
I've been feeling so shitty lately, which I am attributing to this lovely weather we're having *eyeroll*
This morning I was preparing for the yoga class I have to teach later on and just started bawling. Out of nowhere. I don't get it. Gah. So, I made myself a cup of tea, which if what I usually do when I start getting emotional (or drink a bottle of wine, but like I said, I have to teach today) and this was what was on the teabag. I love Yogi Teas just for because of their teabags, I swear. For whatever reason, its always what I need.
My love is my greatest strength - I think its all of ours, if we can only find it.

I took this picture in August near Josh's parents house in Kitchener, Ontario. We were there visiting for the weekend. He and his dad were working on some carpentry thing so I amused myself by going on a hike and taking pictures of the surroundings.

Pleeeeease donate to help beat arthritis and auto-immune disease!
As everyone knows, Moksha Yoga is the yoga I have been practicing since 2004, and became a certified teacher in it last year. It's touched my life in countless ways, and continues to do so each and every day. It has brought so many blessings to me and I want to use this opportunity to give back and help out in any way I can.
I will be taking part in the largest Moksha hot yoga class held under one roof! By being a part of yoga history, I am helping the Arthritis & Autoimmunity Research Centre (AARC) Foundation beat arthritis and the over 110 arthritis related autoimmune disorders like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma that affect over 4.5 million Canadians.
For more information about the AARC Foundation at University Health Network, please visit www.beatarthritis.ca.
If you're interested in registering too visit www.powerofmovement.ca for details!
Thanks for helping me beat arthritis.
If everyone who reads this just donated $5, just think of how much I could raise?
Just to clear up some stuff... yes the proceeds benefit Canadian centered research, but I hope we all realize that anything discovered will be implemented worldwide to benefit the good of humankind, the Greater Good. I believe both penicilan and the polio vaccine were discovered by Canadians, yet were not hoarded by America's Hat.
In addition to wanting to give something back, I'm also doing this for my grandma, who has arthritis in her knees so bad she can hardly walk anymore without a cane.
So please, go to this link: http://my.e2rm.com/personalPage.aspx?SID=1692836 and give if you can. You can up until February 23rd.
Thank you and God bless you so much!
Namaste!
Karina
Last night AJ and I went over to our friend Allison's house for an evening of cooking, martini drinking, and vegan food eating. So awesome. I took a lot of pics, which can all be found in my flickr account, but this one was probably the best of the evening, since AJ looks so saucy. We were trying to make dinner (channa aloo curry and Trinidadian callilou with roti) and it ended taking us four hours to make it - we didn't eat until well after midnight, but that was totally fine!
For any of you who thought it might not be. Its not going away any time soon, either. Oh JOY.
This was taken outside my house, again, since I'm running out of ideas on wtf to take a picture of. I love this car - a VW bus is my ultimate dream car and I will own one some day if it kills me. This bus hasn't moved since the first blizzard we had, and you can see just how much its snowed.
Since I have attracted an audience (thank you to all of your comments, emails, messages, putting me on your blogs of the week, etc), I have put up a list of stuff I'm into. I figure now is as good a time as ever to start spewing my vegetarian/yoga/environmental/dirty hippy tree hugging propaganda as ever. :D
However, I would like to turn your attention to the sidebar, and my new spiffy playlist. Now you can have some tunes for your listening pleasure. I'm going to see what I can do about changing the layout parameters so you can actually scroll down the playlist, but its on random for now.
And since I like to guilt trip myself, here's a pic anyway, from a few weeks ago:
Since I talk about them so much, this is my Canadian family. This is Cathy (not pictured is her husband, Scott), Chuck, me, Jill, and Josh. Josh is obviously my bff,and his family pretty much adopted me when I moved up here. Josh refers to me as the stray cat who followed him home. Ass. So now, you can put some faces to names.
Anyway.
This morning, Toronto got another three inches of snow.
By the afternoon, it was blizzarding outside again, and our classes got out early. I met up with Josh's cousin and my good friend Cathy and we went to get our nails done and then got sushi. It was absolutely nuts outside; in addition to near whiteout conditions, it was also thundering and lightening. It felt like the end times.
This was taken in the middle of my street on my way to class at 7 am.
It's Super Tuesday today. I hope US Dems do the right thing and vote for Obama. I'm so sick of people bashing him because he suppossedly doesn't have any leadership experience. Uhm ok people - neither did Bush. And some how, we've put up with him for eight years. Obama has at least been a senator for the previous four, and has a whole list of impressive leadership type stuff under his belt - and wtf - people rarely have experience with being POTUS anyway. Weakest argument ever.
I'm also sick of the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton dynasty that seems to be going on. Who's after Hillary? Jeb?
If Hillary gets elected for the Democratic ballot I totally see a republican winning again. And that's not good. Maybe thats what we as a people deserve. Who knows. This makes me crabby.
They just released a poll up here saying that something like 15% of Canadians would give up their vote in the next Canadian federal election to vote in the US one in November. I'm wishing that could be a reality.
Against my better judgment I'm leaving comments enabeled. However, I'm in a stunningly bad mood and ready to rip someone's head off at a moment's notice, so disagree with me at your own risk. If I tear into you, I'm sorry. Maybe.
