I took this today while standing outside of Salad King waiting for them to open. This school year I've usually eaten there for lunch every Monday. They have the best vegetarian bangkok stir fry and crispy golden tofu curry in the history of EVER. I will be going through withdrawls once I am in New Zealand for sure.
In 30 days, that is. Thirty days until my temporary relocation to New Zealand. I can't believe it!
This was taken on my way back from Las Vegas last November, where I had my huge birthday bash. Desert sunsets there were so pretty. I miss Vegas, and Nevada in general and I hope to get to go back next year.
For the past three days, my cat has done nothing but obsessively played with my nail file. I have no idea why. I cut his nails two weeks ago so its not like they're long. I finally got ticked enough at him today to take it away from him and I got the dirtiest look ever. He's now keeping busy with my iPod... grrrrr.....
I forgot to put this in... but New Zealand immigration has a newfound respect from me. I sent my passport there so I could get my work permit and it was processed within five days! I had it back to me nine days after I sent it, after getting told it would take about a month to process.
I was floored. Even when I do my immigration stuff with Canada it always takes them four to six weeks.
Anyway, my paperwork is done, my visa is here, and I am all set to leave April 29th! That's in 39 days!
Lately I have been so damn busy with school and stuff I can't even remember my own name. However, this week is now over, I've only two more papers to write (both due in April) and I have handed in all my paperwork regarding my work/study in New Zealand over the summer. That is wicked awesome.
Taken over my three hour break.
The Bitter Girls Club (like the babysitters club, but 20 years later)
I don't see why people celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Irish pride is great and all, but St. Patrick brough Christianity to Ireland at the expense of killing hundreds of thousands of Pagans... that's not very Jesus like, eh? This merits celebration? I can think of a million other great excuses to get together and drink besides celebrating people killing people.
You don't see people celebrating the day Hitler died.
Just sayin'.
That particular bridge (the Bloor Viaduct) used to be quite popular with suicide jumpers until they suicide proofed it. The signs and telephones remain at either ends of the bridge, however, as reminders. Now people go jump a few km up the road off another bridge, into a river/six lane highway below.
So 3.14 it is.
Tonight my friend Tina came down and we had a nice dinner at my favourite Greek restaurant and then went for a walk along the Danforth. We ended up walking all the way to the Bloor Viaduct, which is a huge bridge which connects the east end of Toronto with downtown and the west end. It was sunset so I started snapping. This is the view across the Don River Valley, looking at downtown, and the Don River. Below is a huge ravine, the river, and a six lane highway. People used to use that bridge to jump to their deaths, but it has since been suicide proofed.
Although its warming up a little bit (+1C today... oooh) I'm still wishing I was back in Hawaii with my community. I did, however get to teach yoga today and play for awhile! So that was cool. Now I get to look forward to a weekend of writing two papers and studying for another miderm. However, in four weeks, I am done!
